Greetings in the “Light” of Our Radiant One, I am Korton. It is my privilege at this time to present highlights of a day in the life of Korton.A day’s beginning …you know, of course, we don’t always have one of your “days” to contend with, depending upon our location at the time.

One’s day may more aptly be described as that given period of time when one expends physical effort in conjunction with other levels of awareness to perform given tasks.

As you are aware, certain facets of our personality function continuously. It is only when the physical body which needs periods of rest, and the length of these periods varies according to the setting in which one finds himself. Keep in mind, however, that even on earth there are those who function with very short intervals of what you call sleep. Can you not see some implications here?

For the sake of clarity then, I shall confine myself to that given period of what you call “time” when I am physically involved with the activities of life. Upon arising and taking care of the little amenities which add to one’s personal comfort, I too indulge myself with a wafer of substance accompanied by a drink of water attuned to whatever flavor I so desire. There is no need for you to feel such a meal is limited in scope or is sterile. In all actuality, such dining affords one an infinite number of delicious treats from which to choose. Besides, what greater or more efficient way to placate feelings of hunger and thirst? And think of the time saved for the cook!

It would appear that on earth people turn to eating as a positive escape from so many less than desirable aspects of life. This is an unnecessary adjunct to life here among the stars.

Then it’s off to work, as you would say, and thank goodness we have no bumper-to-bumper freeway traffic with which to contend! The Martian technological system has come up with some very interesting conveyances to transport oneself from one point to another. Without going into a complete treatise on transportation, let’s just say that there are relatively small vehicles which are mentally programmed to deliver one from one spot to another. And they are smog free!

My place of residence is situated approximately three fourths of a mile from KOR, hence it is just a short jaunt to work each day, taking approximately five of your earth minutes. Star speeds are hardly appropriate on our planet’s surface or subsurface, in case you’re wondering.
Access to KOR is by underground corridor, and as my home site is likewise subsurface, I doubt you’ll see me from your Viking II.
Upon arriving at KOR, the communications hub for this part of the universe, my first task is to review transmissions received in my absence. We have an intricate way of recording messages, and they can be can be scanned in rapid fashion for content. KOR is manned, as you would say, around the clock. The staff, directed by myself and Zo, is relatively small, compared to one of your telephone office staffs with its hundreds of employees. Not more than ten to fifteen persons are required to keep all phases of the communications center operating constantly. This includes transmitting, receiving, relaying, and recording and storing of information in what you might call a library. We also have constant maintenance procedures which must be performed, plus we do continuously strive to research new and advanced techniques to improve our present systems of communications.
One might liken KOR to a “Grand Central Station” in your railroad heyday or a New York International Airport in present time, as myriads of messages are pouring in to be handled in one way or another.
You see, we are what you might call a space relay station, and as such one of our main functions is to channel through messages from one destination to another. Handling some 7,000 messages at the same instant by one person really is no problem, with the advanced types of equipment at our disposal. It still leaves room for me to send thoughts to my very special friends stationed on earth, and I might add, I would certainly encourage all of you hearing my comments to please send thoughts my way, whatever your means of doing so.
It seems I’m developing a rather large “pen pal club", as you would call it, and what’s your saying, “the more the merrier?” I would remind you that thought is instantaneous, regardless of the distance involved. Thus it is that a single thought sent out to the farthest reaches of the universe arrives at that moment. Do you see why we stress, “We are only a thought away?” And with many of you, we are closer than that, as you sense.

Elder's Meditation

"The very dust upon which you now stand responds more lovingly to [my people's] footsteps than to yours, because it is rich with the blood of our ancestors and our bare feet are conscious of the sympathetic touch."
--Chief Sealth, DUWAMISH

If you respect something, it will respect you back. If your ancestors respected something, the future generations will be respected back. The Indian ancestors always showed great respect for the Earth. That's why the Earth is so respectful to Indians today. Every Indian naturally feels connectedness to the Earth. We know the Earth holds our ancestors. If we continue to respect Mother Earth, our children will benefit and so will our grand- children. Today, we should think about and pray for our Mother Earth.

Grandmother, let me have strong feelings for our Earth today.
